COURSE DESCRIPTION: Continues the study of the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Topics include: the endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive. Laboratory experience supports classroom learning.

PREREQUISITES: BIO 193 (With a passing grade of C or higher)

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
You must attend at least 90% of the scheduled class / lab time. Any student who is absent more than 10% of the time scheduled for any class will be withdrawn from that class. Any absence is defined as missing more than 15 minutes during any hour of class. Any student who is absent from class for up to 15 minutes during any hour of class will be counted tardy. A student who has been tardy three times will be charged with a one-hour absence. Absences due to required jury duty or military duty will be omitted from the 10% limit. At the time of withdrawal, the student will receive a grade of WP or WF determined by the student's current grade point average in the class. A student who has been withdrawn from class for excessive absences may appeal in writing within five (5) days to the director of the school
responsible for the course from which the student has been withdrawn.
It is your responsibility to know how many absences and/or tardies you have accumulated. It is your responsibility to check Pinnacle regularly to know how many absences your instructor has on record for you.

GRADING SCALE: 90+= A, 80 – 89 =B, 70 – 79=C, 60 –69=D, Less than 60=F
WRITING ASSIGNMENTS: Writing assignments are required in all classes to help you improve your skills and also improve your learning outcome. Writing and composition exercises are incorporated into activities in this course.
WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURES: If you withdraw from the course you must notify the instructor immediately. If you withdraw prior to the 16th class day your grade will be "W". If you withdraw after the first 15 days your grade will be "WP" or "WF" depending on your average at that time.
WORK ETHICS GRADE: You will receive a separate work ethics grade that will appear on your transcript. That grade and the grading system will both be explained by the instructor during the first week of class. Please review the section on Work Ethics for more information on how you will be graded on Work Ethics.
LIBRARY INFORMATION: Columbus Technical College Library services are available to all students including online students. GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL AND ADULT EDUCATION'S GUARANTEE:
Curriculum standards have been developed with direct involvement of business and industry. These standards serve as the industry validated specifications for each occupational program. These standards allow the Georgia system of technical colleges to offer their business partners this guarantee which is in effect for two years after graduation:
"If one of our graduates, educated under a standard program, or his/her employer finds that the graduate is deficient in one or more competencies as defined in the standards, the technical college will retrain the employee at no instructional cost to the employee or the employer."
SAFETY / EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: These will be discussed during first class meeting and will include fire exit from the classroom, severe weather exit from the classroom, loss of electrical power in the classroom, and the location of first aid kits and fire extinguishers.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION: No food or drink will be allowed in the classroom or lab at any time. No children will be allowed in the classroom, lab, hallways or offices.
SMOKE AND TOBACCO FREE CAMPUS: Substantial evidence exists that smoking is unhealthy for those who smoke and for nonsmokers exposed to secondary smoke. In an effort to create a more healthy environment for students, faculty and staff, all areas of Columbus Technical College are tobacco-free. Tobacco use is prohibited inside and outside all buildings, in parking lots and vehicles in the parking lots, and within any College vehicle or any vehicle operated by the College. This policy applies to all persons while on campus. No person may use tobacco products to include cigarettes, cigars, pipes, smokeless tobacco, or any form of tobacco products while on Columbus Technical College property.

Please leave a copy of your schedule with your spouse, babysitter, parents, or anyone else who may need
to contact you in case of an emergency. Give them the office phone number, your hourly schedule, and
room numbers for your classes. Do this every quarter!! This is for emergency contact only and is the only
way we have to notify you of a call.
You have purchased a health care insurance policy with your student fees. Read the information and be familiar with what it covers. Outside of this policy, any health expense is totally your responsibility.
The instructor reserves the right to alter the schedule and/or organization of the material to meet the needs of the majority of the class.
